Using Forge Live

Forge Live can dramatically speed up your development workflow by detecting changes made to your code and instantly updating your running app.

Note: Forge Live is only supported on Forge Platform Versions 2.1.7 or higher.

Prerequisites

To use Forge Live you will first need to install Node.js on your system. To do this you can either use your favorite package manager or download an installer from: http://nodejs.org/download/.

Note: The Ubuntu node package renames the node binary to nodejs. This practice breaks many node packages. If you are getting errors when you try to use Forge Live you can try installing the nodejs-legacy package with: sudo apt-get install nodejs-legacy

Using Forge Live with the toolkit

Forge Serve

Once you have installed Node.js you can run your app with Forge Live by clicking on your desired target in the Serve section to start the app and listen for changes.
